The Best for the World

The Cisco Live! conference in Orlando this year followed the global trend – it was all about collaboration. The collaboration was reflected even by the scene for general sessions and there was a distinctive change comparing to previous years – in addition to relatively »cold« Cisco colors (blue) this year there was a lot of red (see the stage).

The positive, energetic color. The energy that comes from collaboration. Where everyone can contribute. The first time in history it is possible – thanks to technology development where Cisco and NIL as its partner have played an important role – that everyone can contribute, express an opinion, and help to innovate. During keynotes we were not asked to switch off our cell phones, on one session we were even asked to switch them on. So that we were able to receive and send the tweets. The Twitter was used even for collecting an opinion from the audience. The fastest and the easiest way to collect ideas. Of which some may become a true innovation. Padmasree Warrior, the CTO at Cisco concluded her keynote with the words: »When I becomes WE, we can change the world.«

Indeed, the whole mission of the technology innovation is (and should be) to enable people live better lives. Not to make people slaves of the technology (which, in truth, it happens too often). That is why I really liked the statement I heard from John Chambers, CEO at Cisco, in his keynote: »The Best in the World and the Best for the World!« Without a goal to help the world, to give your development and innovation a sense, the technology company stays what it is – the technology company. When you add a human component, your products and services become an asset. And only then you can truly collaborate with your customers. For the better world.
